Peacock Mask£220

15 ½ x 11 ½ inches
Watercolour and gouache on Bockingford

The pour on technique was used solely to create the colours of the plumage on the peacock mask. The face was painted purely by brush.  The poured on paint merges on the paper creating interest and light. The white gouache is added afterwards to pick out the peacock feather “eyes” and the splatter of paint overall gives a feeling of movement and interest. The tall and stately mask hides the girl beneath as her eyes stare back. She’s a fantasy showgirl in her bright plumage and is as enigmatic and beautiful as she is striking.
