Prussia Cove cottages£90

10 x 8 inches
Watercolour and gouache on Bockingford

The rough farm track leading down to the sea passes by the old fishermens cottages at Prussia Cove in Cornwall. The interest in the painting is the contrast of the splatter of paint depicting the foliage in the foreground compared to the painted stone cottages basking in the warm sunshine. The main colours were browns, blues and burnt siennas picking up the warmth of the late summer’s day and ideal to depict the differing textures of stone walls, thatched roof, the rust of the old corrugated iron roof, the weathered and peeling painted doors, long grass and stony track.
