Far far away£220 Watercolour on Bockingford Different effects in a painting always make it more interesting to look at, so to do this one I painted the planet in the traditional way with a brush but the haphazard way the stars lie in the sky was created using salt applied to the wet paint. It’s quite difficult to not let it look like salt was dumped on the wet paper. It’s all in the wrist action, and the natural way it should look, which is illustrated here, by the illusion of depth of the distant stars compared to the brighter ones, and I love the effect of it. |
