Pour on paint virtually painted the sky itself; the natural flow of the water creating the natural shapes of the clouds so very little brushwork was needed to be added to it, except to darken and enhance the deep red of the clouds and to lighten and darken the cloud shapes in various places. The horizon line was lost and found between sky and ocean to create the illusion of distance. Lastly the detail of the riders was painted in to compliment and enhance the simplicity of nature.
