Just four tones were used to make this a dramatic image. The palest being the cream background colour of the paper itself and the darkest being the black used only on the leather of the high-heeled boot to create a dramatic pose and effect. This drawing will be interpreted by different people in different ways, and to add to that diversity, the man’s face wasn’t depicted. The fact that his hand is shown as a fist also makes it a more passionate drawing than if his hand was open. The title is also purposely ambiguous – where is the control?
