I had planned on this pastel being a big scary tiger, with black and white stripes, huge amounts of burnt sienna and staring yellow eyes, so Im not quite sure why it turned out as it did!!!! I can only put it down to the fact that the photo was very appealing, and I really enjoyed drawing the subject matter. I love the nuances of colours and texture within the fur, and the way the pastel can capture the wetness of eyes and nose. The black areas of nose and mouth are a gorgeous contrast to the paleness of the fur around it, with the pink tongue a lovely touch of colour within the painting
